How do I set up an account?

"There are a few ways for you to set up your account with S&A Builders Merchants.
You can download an application form, fill it in and email it to accounts@sandabm.co.uk, bring it in to one of our branches or come in to branch to set up an acount with our friendly team."

What are the advantages of setting up a Trade credit account?

"There are many advantages to opening a trade credit account here at S&A Builders Merchants, a personalised account service, controlled by you.
See all of your current prices, create quotes, cherry pick and order."

Where is S&A Builders Merchants?

"We have two branches based in County Durham, one in Barnard Castle and one in Crook.

What days do you open?

"We are open Monday - Friday from 7.30am-5pm and Saturday from 8am-12pm.

Which payment options do you accept?

We accept Cash, BACS transfer and all major debit/credit cards. We do not accept American Express

What is my order status?

Order Acknowledgment

Once you place an order on our website, you will receive an order confirmation email. Our team will then ensure all the details are correct and will be in touch when your order is ready for delivery / collect.

Where is my delivery?

Due to the nature of our deliveries we cannot confirm an exact time of delivery. We endeavour to meet timing requirements. Where do you deliver to?

We are proud to offer free local delivery for orders over £100 using our own fleet of vehicles. Once you have placed your order, your delivering branch will contact you to discuss a suitable delivery date and time. Should online delivery be unavailable in your area, please contact your local branch by telephone as we may be able to discuss alternative options with you.

How do I find a specific product?

To find a specific product try using our search bar or menu drop downs. If you're still unable to find that particular product please email us using sales@sandabm.co.uk or call your local branch on Barnard Castle 01833 696900 / Crook 01388 768764 where we will be happy to help.

Do you list all products on your website?

"We aim to show all stocked products although in some cases for specialist orders we may not show them live.

Information about VAT on Safety Footwear

Are you confused about VAT on Safety footwear?

The first thing to ask is who is buying them?

  • Individuals who buy safety boots for their own use do not have to pay VAT. It is important to note that this only applies to safety boots, not shoes. VAT is always payable on safety shoes.
  • Companies who buy safety boots for use by their employees DO have to pay VAT, if the company is VAT registered they can claim the VAT back. VAT cannot be claimed back on safety shoes.

Do I have to pay VAT when buying boots from S&A Builders Merchants?

  • As you can imagine this situation puts us in a tricky position as we have fantastic relationships with both individuals and companies alike, but from a system perspective it’s hard to distinguish between the two.
  • We have taken the decision NOT to charge VAT on safety boots on our website as we believe the majority of our footwear sales come from individuals, not companies.
